Social Attitudes

Policymakers should take account of the extent to which South Africans hold traditionalist views in the areas of sexuality, abortion and the death penalty. The majority are now faced with a set of human rights entitling them and their countrymen to engage in practices that are contrary to the upbringing, socialisation and religious beliefs.  Conversely, the electorate needs to exercise tolerance and understanding and to refrain from undermining the dignity of the minority who do not see such rights as morally wrong.http://www.hsrcpress.ac.za/product
